What happens next ?

If you are selling your property

Once you have found a buyer for your property, the next main steps will be the following:

  • You will have to gather several documents for the information of the buyer. Because we know that collecting all the required documents can be difficult especially if you are abroad, our law practice can offer you an extra service by gathering these documents for you. Please let us know if you need help.

  • We will prepare a preliminary sales agreement (“promesse de vente”) and arrange an appointment. You will have to be assisted by a sworn translator who will translate the terms of the contract to you before you sign it.

  • We carry out many audits to secure your transaction.
Meanwhile, the buyer may seek funding for the acquisition (real estate loan).

  • We draft the final sales contract. The completion usually happens approximately 3 months after the preliminary sales agreement is signed. Again, a sworn translator will translate the contract to you before you sign it.

  • We record the title deed at the land registry.

Our law firm would be happy to give you more details about each stage. Please feel free to contact us.
